Amp

The Amp

The Amp is a powerful melee weapon built and designed by Zeke, it is made to channel Cole's electric energy to increase the power of his melee attacks.

Description

Testing The Amp

Cole training with the Amp Prototype.

The Amp, which resembles a large double-pronged cattle prod in appearance, is what Cole uses to channel his electricity into and to and attack enemies with. When in use, Cole pulls it from his backpack, which would extend and channel electricity. The Amp is used, controller wise, by hitting the square and triangle buttons. Cole can also pull off combos with the Amp. He can end the combo with a Finisher Attack, which can be executed once the bar reaches halfway (in 2 hits), and an Ultra Attack, which can be executed once the bar is completely full (with 4 hits). Cole can do Finisher Attacks on any enemy, but can only do Ultra Attacks on a human-sized enemy. His Melee Attacks can be upgraded to completely refill Cole's energy after every Ultra Attack and do Finisher Attacks and Ultra Attacks in half the time.

Trivia

  • The Amp was originally set to appear in the first inFamous game, but the idea was scrapped. [citation needed]
    • The prototype for the Amp was a lead pipe. [citation needed]
  • A Solid Gold Amp was included in the Hero Edition. It could also have been obtained by pre-ordering a copy of the game at Amazon or other major retailers.
  • Three additional amp skins, the Sly Cooper Cane, Caveman Club, and Samurai Sword were also included in the Hero Edition and pre-orders of the standard edition from any retailer (along with the Reaper Skin in the US and/or the Cole Skin from inFamous 1 for the UK)
  • The inFamous 2 website states that it can unleash a thousand volts of electricty.
  • The Amp changes appearance with Cole's karma level. It becomes rusty and darker when Cole has evil karma, while appearing to be made of pure silver when Cole has good karma.
  • As stated by the producer of InFamous 2 that Amp skins such as the Solid Gold Amp skin and Samurai Katana Amp skin cannot be used with other body skins (eg. Kessler skin with Golden Amp) as it is reported to glitch the game.
  • When using the Samurai Sword, during the cut scenes Cole will often hold the sword upsidedown.
  • In the good ending in inFAMOUS 2, the people of New Marais enbed the Amp into the town square to honour cole as a show of graditude for his sacrifice in curing the Plague.
  • In Zeke's flood town train car hideout, there is an AMP on the table that is attached to a battery. It has three prongs just like a trident, this could possibly be the prototype Cole test before arriving to New Marais or possibly an upgrade to the original Amp he was planning on giving Cole.
