Empire Event

The catastrophe caused by The Beast.

The Empire Event was the name given to the event that was the destruction of Empire City at the hands of The Beast. All of the known survivors would be on a boat to New Marais, with Cole MacGrath among them.

Prelude

This is gonna be a short term visit man. Just gonna get in there, and get some new powers.

After a month from Cole MacGrath's confrontation with Kessler, Cole was informed by NSA agent Lucy Kuo regarding her findings of The Beast, her knowledge over its nature, and how she can help. Her associate, Sebastian Wolfe claimed that he can help amplify his powers and help deal with the Beast's imminent coming, being a former member of the First Sons and working on the Ray Sphere. With these in mind, Cole boarded the boat to New Marais, with his best friend Zeke Dunbar and agent Kuo at his side.

Advent

The vortex that appears at Archer Square, signalling the Beast's return.

Just as they were about to leave, a vortex appears beyond the horizon, created right beside the statue at Archer Square. The destruction that it was creating made Cole take action, as he got off the boat and made his way back into the city. By the harbor, he saw the visage of the Beast, and blasts a lightning bolt towards him. As the hit landed, the Beast turns his attention to Cole, and throws the remains of the statue towards him, making him stumble down and fall over. The Beast would then appear before Cole, right by the city's harbor.

Cole would then fend off the Beast, telling it that he won't let Kessler's vision a reality. After a long fight, Cole was able to subdue the Beast long enough for him to call down a bolt from the sky, which defeated the Beast. As the Beast sunk to the water, Cole made his way back to the boat before the harbor collapses.

Just as he jumped for the boat, Cole would be held back by an unknown force, and was pulled back by a partially reformed Beast. As a last attempt of breaking free, Cole summoned another bolt from the sky, which managed to get the Beast's hands off of him and back to the water, as Cole fell with it. Cole, badly injured, was taken back to the boat and was sent to its infirmary.

Aftermath

The Beast had just put itself back together again. And now Empire City is dead.

Cole wakes up after his battle with the Beast.

Waking up, Cole finds himself at a bed with Zeke beside him, who was watching the news. Looking at the TV, Cole sees the Beast, reformed, and watches as it destroys Empire City. News media would later dub this event as the Empire Event and would draw several theories and suggestions as to what caused the event, such as an unnatural phenomena, or a terrorist attack.
