Father Ignatius was a priest that appeared in Zeke Dunbar's narrative story. Ignatius was a priest who sat by Mary on her death bed and was also the creator of the Barbed Cross, a relic capable of fending off all demonic creatures.
Biography
Early life
Igantius became a priest sometime in his early years. At some point, he comforted a governess named Mary as she was dying of smallpox. Mary was later reborn as a vampire by Marco. As she and Marco caused chaos across Europe, Ignatius pursued. Ignatius believed that there was still good in Mary and by killing Marco, he could make her human again.
However, Ignatius was unaware this rule only applied for the first night of a human's conversion into a vampire. Ignatius proceeded to kill Marco with a stake, but had no effect on Mary, who immediately descended into a rage after Marco's death. Ignatius then fled, as Mary now began hunting him for revenge.
New Marais
Ignatius rallied a mob against Mary.
For the next thirty-seven years, Ignatius hid from Mary, always one step ahead of her and settled down in New Marais. Father Ignatius was able to develop the Barbed Cross, a weapon for fighting off all demonic creatures, including Vampires. However, Mary soon tracked Ignatius down to New Marais. Realizing it was only a matter of time before she found and killed him, Ignatius rallied an angry mob and went to the catacombs of New Marais to deal with Mary and her followers.
Fending off Mary's followers with his Barbed Cross, the mob was soon able to capture Mary. Ignatius had her tied to a Pyre and burnt. Father Ignatius soon died afterwards and was buried at St. Charles Cemetery with his Barbed Cross. Ignatius was regarded a hero by New Marais for his actions. Years later, after Mary was resurrected, his grave was visited by a First Born who stole the Barbed Cross.
