Introduction, also named Genesis, is the first story mission in inFamous.
Description
The inFamous opening screen, which is only seen upon starting a new game, shows a view from what appears to be the Historic District park. Once the start button is pressed the area blacks out, followed by the Ray Sphere detonation. The view changes to that of a news helicopter surveying the explosion. A car is thrown towards the helicopter by the explosion and the screen goes black. A voice (later revealed as Kessler) is heard; "Activation +6 minutes. Pulse is 45. Respiration 10. Lookin' good, Cole." The game's protagonist, Cole MacGrath, wakes up in the center of Ground Zero, a massive crater that formed when The Blast occurred. He is told by Empire City's police force and his best friend, Zeke Dunbar to head over to the nearby parking lot and make his way to the adjacent Fremont Bridge leading into the Neon District.
Limping his way over to the parking lot, he passes several bare wires connected to a damaged electrical outlet that shocks him with force that would kill any normal man. Amazed, he continues on, using the parkour skills he learned to navigate through the broken lot.
When he reaches the police, electricity from the bridge shocks him and sets off one of Cole's advanced powers, Lightning Storm which annihilates the police present. Zeke thinks its the enigmatic terrorists who set off the bomb, and as Cole is making his way across the bridge, he passes out from being overwhelmed by his injuries and absorbing so much electricity.
The level ends with a cinematic showing Cole in a coma for two weeks, with his girlfriend, Trish Dailey, caring for him, only to have him wake up with electric powers.
Trivia
- There is an unidentified man in the garage in this mission, as the cop in the helicopter tells him to leave because it's collapsing. This later turns out to be Kessler.
- Strangely, it is in this mission where Cole shows his greatest display of power, despite it being the start of the game.
