Hey Shrev, i'm messaging you here on mobile because I cannot access Discord due to lack for internet service (a tornado hit near my city). The stuff I exported was the main page portals, as well as the Wikiname and Small templates. They're all in the xml.file in the DM I sent you.
When you get a chance, could you send me an updated XML with some of the templates omitted? For instance, Template:Documentation already exists, and there's no need for Template:Dot. It would be great if NWO could take a look at what templates we already have and omit them from the export log accordingly. I'd really appreciate it.
Also, I would appreciate the Affiliation Policy (and other similar policies) being left blank for the Infamous admins to fill in themselves. I understand that NWO tends to make it easier for themselves with a one-size-fits-all wording, but all that was asked for was a Main Page revamp, not a policy overhaul. Please adjust your documentation accordingly. That would be much appreciated.
Me and Jim discussed this before (see thread above). Which would you go with - InFAMOUS or inFAMOUS? Only asking 'cause I'm a bit confused. Jim suggested the former, but others suggest the latter because that's the prominent trademark spelling.
Thanks for letting me know. Honestly I've always been confused about this myself. IMO as long as we pick one and stick with it, we should be good. I agree with your suggestion in that thread; I think Infamous would be good, and then for the appropriate pages, we could say "(stylized as inFAMOUS)" or something along those lines in the opening sentence.
Hey, Shrev, I talked with Jim Logan and he agreed that with my constant activity and strong edits here, I would be a perfect candidate for Content Moderator. With this position, I can really help clean up things and keep things rolling. As soon as you get this message, let me know your thoughts on this? :)
Ever since i cursed the guy with the worst luck for punishing my good edit me and my family's internet has been offline because of the network Spectrum they recieved us the third bill and this time they upgrades the prize to pay it it was the third time we have to pay the internet bill that internet company is evil it took like 3 days without internet so mom decided to choose at&t and then after waiting for days we got our internet back but my parents need their cable for their tv for over 1 channel and when i came back into my wiki the person recieved me the notification he blocked me, me and my family have the "karma" over that commenter.
When i got my internet back the restart update pops up and i have to wait again when i was checking on my profile Rocket all of my videos are gone and the only unbelievable reason is that the profile is deleted ecxept that it was there in youtube i decided to remake my profile again i can't believe that my profile is on youtube and my profile is diffrent i don't know how to bring it back and it was messed up when my internet irritates me and my family.
There's a lot of speculation there, I personally haven't played Second Son but there is mention of him through a few side mission. Canonically speaking, he's dead. I personally think that the question mark was some weird tease that Sucker Punch (the devs) have been so fond of.
I was thinking something that included Cole and Zeke for the background, since it's just the two protagonists from Second Son/First Light. It really alienates the older fans if they come here and just see two characters they've never seen before.
I am contacting you because I feel there is an issue with a page on the Wikia. I confronted Jim Logan about his most recent change to Delsin Rowe's page (this change was made in May of 2015). I felt that the page had some negative or otherwise bias information on it, and I had changed only a small couple of things. I may have been breaking protocol there, and I do apologize. I did post a post on the only forum on this Wikia that I am following explaining my intent (which was also in the wrong forum catergory, which I also apologize - I really have never used the forum/community section of a Wikia before.) I had noticed that Jim Logan doesn't really like Delsin - he posts a lot about how he doesn't like the character on the forum I follow. Please do not confuse these sentences as hate against Jim Logan - I respect every single opinion he has, and in no way is this a hateful message or act against him. I feel that his hatred of the character has followed onto the main page of the character, and I think that is inappropriate. Many people can agree with me when I say I think wikia pages should purely contain content that is unbiased information about a place/character/etc, and should, in no way, sway people's opinion of the character forcefully. The changes I had made to the page have been reversed, and I have been questioned by Jim Logan as to what bias information was against the character.
I shall explain these things to you as I have to him: I noticed that Delsin's page is the only main character page that has a "Receptions" portion to it, which breaks the continuity of how all the other pages on this wikia are formatted, from what I can see. (Cole's page is not set up this way, for instance.) This Receptions portion basically trashes Delsin's character . (Like I said, I do not mind other people's opinions, not at all, but I feel this opinionated statement from Jim Logan should not be placed on the character's main page, but rather in a community forum.) Also, the first few sentences of Delsin's character contain unnecessary quotation marks around certain words that describe him. While this isn't the most biased thing, I feel that it takes away from the professionalism of the layout of information on the page - I feel like I am reading a blog post rather than an information page. These are the only two instances I, and I feel many others, have a quarrel with.
I am sorry to bother you with such a long message, but as a person of the inFAMOUS community, I felt like I should reach out to you to explain my problem in the hopes that it can be resolved without issue, for the betterment of not me, but the community as a whole. I feel like these changes will make Delsin Rowe's page what it should be - unbiased information about the character. As aforementioned, this is, in no way, hatred or revenge against the admin Jim Logan. I hope you will take my message into consideration when deciding upon this matter.
Hi Brando (hope you don't mind me calling you that), thanks for reaching out to me about this.
Unfortunately, I had not looked at the Delsin Rowe article until today, after you brought it to my attention, due to I not wanting to be spoiled of Second Son's plot details. As an admin of this community, I realize that in retrospect it was a rather selfish decision and I apologize for that.
Now, with regards to your query, I too am a bit a puzzled by the "Reception" section that is present on the Delsin Rowe article, especially because no other characters have such a section, nor is it plausible to gain accurate "reception" on a character (what source would need to be cited, for example). I have not removed the section as I would like to consult Jim about it, but I have edited some other sections and put a notice on the page that it needs to be revamped to past tense.
I also want to apologize for any trouble or issues you have faced while becoming a member of this wiki. Mistakes are completely fine, especially if it's your first time here, and I'm glad that you felt the need to bring up this issue to help improve not just Delsin's page, but the wiki as a whole.
I hope I was able to address your query properly. Let me know if there's anything else.
Hey man, Tuna and I are debating whether or not to remove the spoiler tags from the InFamous 2 articles. We need you and Red to be the deciding factors in our little scuffle here. I say since the game is over a year old, if you haven't played it, and you click the mission "you haven't played yet" it's your own damn fault. While Tuna thinks we should be courteous to the few people who haven't played InFamous 2.
It isn't really just inFAMOUS 2- it's everything in general. Just because a game has been out for a year or longer doesn't mean spoilers don't apply; I still haven't seen The Avengers and I'd be upset if I ran into a spoiler by accident. I just want the wiki to at least be professional enough to respect the feelings of people who haven't yet played the games.
It can be a good question, as we encountered on the Sly Cooper Wiki a while back. The decision we made over there was effectively the whole wiki is a spoiler pit, and if we were to keep spoiler tags, it would then become a debate on which pages deserve spoilers. We found it easier to just take out individual spoiler tags altogether and just post a notice on the wiki saying that spoilers exist on this wiki; read at your own risk.
"Note: This wiki covers information about the Sly Cooper series, and as such may contain spoilers."
We've been doing it on the SC Wiki for a while now and I would say that it's worked so far. We've given the disclaimer on the main page so if someone walks into a spoiler, it's not the wiki's fault because of said disclaimer.
It's very situational but it's still the same. If a page contains information that would spoil the story, the spoiler tag is needed. I like Shrev's idea about a general spoiler tag although it really depends on the topic of the wiki itself and how much it's story-driven.
and Loki makes the Hulk attack the rest of the Avengers so he could escape and take the staff
Well, since everything about inFAMOUS is really all about the story- a general spoiler tag would work a lot better. To be honest, though, a small amount of gray text on the front page won't really solve the issue.. But, we should just consider it a placeholder until someone makes a front page specifc box.
And on the plus side.. I have no idea what the staff is, so I'll probably forget about it in the next few weeks. (I hope to Ra)
I just wanted to get back to you on the whole Spoiler thing. While I do think having a spoiler template on every page on this wiki (or almost every page, etc) is a bit overkill, it's certainly reasonable (and probably recommended) to have it on upcoming content (if there is any) and recently released stuff. "Recently released" should probably mean no earlier than the past six months, I'd say.
