"Ulterior Motives" is a side mission in Infamous.
Synopsis
Cole meets a civilian who claims he has blast shards stashed away in a locker somewhere. Cole follows him, but is ambushed by several Dust Men troops along the way. Cole must do all he can to protect the civilian while he leads him to his stash. After all of the Dust Men are defeated, the civilian offers Cole one of his five blast shards.
Walkthrough
Your task here is to follow the civilian to his locker, but you must protect him from the Dust Men you'll encounter along the way. If he's killed, this mission is a failure.
Karma opportunity
Upon reaching the locker, you are presented with a karmic choice. The civilian only offers you one blast shard, but you have the option to either accept the one blast shard to receive good karma, or you can fry the civilian and take all of the shards to earn evil karma.
Reward
Completing this mission rewards Cole with 100 Experience points and slightly reduces enemy activity in the Warren.
